In 1921 the custodian took a $274,000 bribe to transfer the American Metal Co. to Richard Merton and associates, and shared $50,000 with Attorney General Harry DAUGHERTY.
One reason for doing this was to insulate the entries, as far as possible, from the biases every author possesses.
